How to set up Kraken API key?

Step-by-step guideline on creating API Keys on Kraken Futures

Updated over a year ago

Follow the guidelines below to seamlessly integrate your CryptoSea and Kraken account for efficient trading.

Before we start with the steps, please note that our Smart Bot can trade ONLY on Kraken Futures. Any API keys created on Kraken Classic/Pro will be considered invalid, and you will receive an error message upon connecting with CryptoSea.

Step 1: Go to Kraken Futures

Log into your existing Kraken account, or create a new one here: https://futures.kraken.com/.

Step 2: Go to your Settings page and locate the API Dashboard

Once there, you'll see the API Keys section, as shown below:

Step 3: Create your API Key

Make sure you've chosen the following API permissions:

  • General API - Full Access

  • Withdrawal API - No Access

That will enable the CryptoSea trading algorithm to execute trades effectively.

Step 4: Generate your API Key and Private Key

Once you have chosen the appropriate permissions, proceed further. Copy the generated API Key and Private Key and store them in a secure location. Alternatively, leave the API dashboard window open for easy access to the keys.

Step 5: Connect Kraken to CryptoSea

Head to your CryptoSea dashboard > "Exchanges" section, and tap on the "Connect" button below the Kraken exchange. Follow the steps on the screen to enter the copied API Key and API Secret (Private Key), and save the information.

Step 6: Confirm if the Connection is Successful

If everything is done correctly, you will see Kraken added to the list of your connected exchanges in your CryptoSea dashboard, together with your available trading balance.

Congratulations! You have successfully connected your Kraken account to CryptoSea.

Important for Smart Bot customers:

Please refrain from changing your leverage or any other default settings unless the steps in this article specifically instruct you to do so. This can result in incorrect bot functionality, increased risk, and potential loss of funds.
